NTN Girls Preview: Long Beach Poly TC, Chandler TC Lead the WayPublished by
Two of the most consistent and dynamic track and field squads lead the girl’s field heading into Nike Track Nationals in Track Town, USA. California powerhouse, and US#1, Long Beach Poly TC leads the way by an ever so slight pre-race margin over US#2 Chandler (AZ), as both squads find themselves well ahead of the rest of the field. Long Beach Poly’s big three of Akawkaw Ndipagbor, Tara Richmond and Melia Cox know how to compete at the highest of levels, and show time and again that they are the heart and soul of the LBP team. Meanwhile, Chandler follows the lead of Jasmine Todd and Hannah Carson, who bring versatility to the squad and lead one of the deepest teams in the nation. While Long Beach Poly and Chandler lead the way, US#3 Columbia TC (NJ) is sneaky strong. While they trail the big two by quite a bit, a few PRs could mean that this squad brings home the national title. Outside of the big three, less than fifty points separate the next five teams, each scoring between 7882.08-7833.87. Harvard-Westlake TC (CA), Western Branch TC (VA), Desert Vista TC (AZ), Trabuco Hills TC (CA) and South Brunswick TC (NJ) all have very talented teams, which means if one or two athletes step up and hit a big PR or two, any of these five can challenge for a top three finish.
