When Phoenix Desert Vista won the Nike Web Nationals two years ago with an astonishing 8,430 points, some were calling it the best boys track and field high school team in the country - ever.

But coach Chris Hanson heard other remarks about his team's national title, which was determined through a computer-ranking system.

"It was a (Nike) Web website. It was pseudo."

"They were right and wrong," Hanson said. "We felt it was like comparing apples to apples. Would we have liked to have a chance like the girls have the opportunity to do it on the track? Absolutely."
